2011 Annual RUFF PICNIC: The Best Ever!!
The weather on Saturday, 11 June held up for us. It was calm and it didn't storm, as the forecasts had
predicted. So, many of the RUFF aircraft were at the picnic. As a result, several important events
happened.
Event #1: Dan Burrell took his sister for her first ever flight in an
EXPERIMENTAL airplane!! She came back to earth and survived
the experience. No wonder Dan got a big hug!
Event #2: Whitney Blocker, Chuck's daughter,
received her first airplane flight from John
Macksamie in his Cessna 150.
Event #3: The Famous RUFF Bomb Drop!! Shown below is Jon Arney in his Kolb dropping a bomb. It actually landed
within the airport boundary!! The target was a big orange spot, laid out by Tom Forster. Bernie and Joanne won the event
with when one of their drops landed about 15 ft from the target. Closest of all the tries! Chris Black, serving as bombardier
with John Macksamie in the C-150, earned a RUFFian first place in the eye glasses drop, the first ever!
Buddy (8DB) and Chief
(29E) flew over for a
breakfast. Walked around
and saw sky divers, R/C
model airplanes, and of
course, full scale airplanes.
Re-Done Fly-in 05 30 11 was rained out. So, we pushed the airplanes back
in the hangar and drove down to Slayton's restaurant in Spencerport.
Genesee County BBQ and
Fly-In Breakfast
The BBQ was Saturday, 18 June, and the
breakfast fly-in was on Sunday. The
following RUFF aircraft flew in either Sat.
or Sunday: Jon's Kolb, Jon's Chief, John's
C-150, George's Escapade, Bernie's
Cherokee, and Dan's Sky Ranger. The
weather was fantastic both days!
Penn Yan Fly-in
Breakfast, 4th of July
9, 10 July: The Annual Rose Fly-in
This used to be a RUFF tradition. It is a fine place to meet other
ultralight and light sport people, so we plan to make it a RUFF annual
tradition again. Fly-in for Lunch and Dinner on Saturday, camp
overnight if you like, and then go to the Weedsport Fly-in Breakfast on
Sunday. It don't get better than this!

24 July: The Annual Hendershot
Fly-in
Sponsored also by our colleagues at EAA 44. This
was Dan and Ellen's first anniversary!! They flew to
Hendershot this time last year! Yeah! A whole
year of successful Fly-ins for Dan & Ellen.
Also note that Norm is back into flying. From Ridge
Rd. Airport to Hindershot is a 4.4 mile cross country!
